Safety
A firm understanding of basic safety requirements when enjoying the outdoors will look after 'you' and the friends and family you surround yourself with. Being 'SAFE' doesn't mean that you have to attend courses or buy expensive satellite phones or locator beacons, it means understanding the risks associated with your chosen activity and how to plan, manage and equip yourself for them.
Attitude
The military was a great place to understand what can be achieved with the right attitude. You are taught to develop coping mechanisms when the going gets tough and your body starts to complain about the journey ahead. This approach is perfect for pushing yourself in the outdoors, especially when tackling endurance sports events.
Equipment
We have a practical philosophy when it comes to equipment... the expensive part of the lifestyle! Prior to spending hard earned cash on new stuff we research equipment thoroughly. We want to know that it is user friendly, robust and fit for purpose. We have found this approach to be the most cost effective over time ensuring that if you do splash out on an 'essential' item it will serve you faithfully for years to come. One of the big drivers in todays market is weight, there are some excellent lightweight products available however this often comes with a lifespan or performance compromise. We prefer to carry the right kit for the right job, that doesn't always mean we have the lightest kit - we just prefer to be comfortable and dry whenever it is possible!
