Decoding the world of cycling!
Cyclists can be a tribal bunch with roadies, triathletes, cyclocrossers, mountain bikers, cycle tourers amongst a few of the sects. Whatever your tribe you are unified through the adventure and challenges a bike provides regardless of its shape, size or surface that you ride on.
At WSBR we focus on triathlon, multisports, bike packing and adventure cycling but will happily ride anything with 2 wheels and a set of pedals. We enjoy triathlon, multisports, road cycling, mountain biking and adventure cycling happily swapping between skinny and fat tyre formats whenever the weather, terrain or event dictates.
The cycling industry has become an enormous beast keeping us on our toes (or confused) with constant innovation and promotion of cycling sub cultures into the next big thing. With each cycling discipline requiring a new or different technical skills, equipment and surface it can be intimidating for newcomers to break into the sport. The simple answer for newbies is on a sensibly priced and appropriate bike, not overly concerned if they look the part because cyclists are an inclusive and enthusiastic bunch ready to welcome new folk. No matter how seriously you want to take your cycling, its a well trodden path and any cycling guru you meet will have worn the same less knowledgeable but enthusiastic shoes you are currently wearing.
Cycling is such a huge sport with so many different styles, cultures and technical requirements that we couldn't cover everything, much as we would like to. We have given an overview of the bikes we ride and why with information on the equipment that we favour with a sprinkling of bike maintenance and repair.
We are strong believers in 'self help' when it comes to repair and maintenance, there aren't any bicycle mechanics waiting for you in the middle of nowhere so best to learn the basics to keep your wheels turning! Big jobs are definitely worth taking to your bike shop, smaller jobs are worth getting your head around at home so you can get to know your bike and keep your adventure on the road when something goes wrong. We will be develop the repair and maintenance section with some quick fixes, hacks, hints and tips!
Whatever you do though, pedal first and think later... sometimes it gets in the way of a good ride!
