Is this for you?

"If you love the outdoors, paddling, adventure & you're ready to try something different with a fun, relaxed group of people... this is definitely for you!
This is a unique paddling adventure in the UK with 43km of stunning southern Cotswold waterways. Starting in Bath you'll paddle out of the city on the historic Kennet and Avon Canal. You'll glide over the River Avon twice on the Dundas and Avoncliffe Georgian aqueducts to an overnight camp near Bradford on Avon.

Day 2 you'll return along the River Avon rich with wildlife including otters, beavers and kingfishers. The grand finale of your adventure is the final section into Bath, you'll paddle beneath historic bridges including the iconic Pulteney Bridge above the weir, from here you'll cruise through central Bath enjoying the historic city views before hitting the jetty. During your SUP adventure you'll have the opportunity to tackle portages, weirs and fun water races with your qualified white water coach on hand to help further develop your skill, confidence and reading of more technical sections of water.

This is a social adventure, with sections of serene water in a lush green valley providing an escape from the pace of life. With cafe and pub stops along the way, this weekend will feel like a holiday from life! We take all the hassle out of the equipment providing you with touring boards, PFDs and your overnight expedition equipment including Firepot evening meal and breakfasts.

Adventure by SUP, what you need to know?

WHAT LEVEL OF SUP SKILL IS REQUIRED?
This SUP weekend is specifically designed for paddlers with prior experience. Due to the challenging nature of covering 43km in just two days, it is not suitable for complete beginners. If you have never been on a board before, we recommend that you undertake one or both of our day SUP sessions before booking this trip.
Over two days, you will journey through some of the UK's most scenic waterways, supported by expert guidance and coaching. We provide top-quality gear to ensure your experience is as rewarding as possible. Join us to enhance your paddling skills in a supportive and breathtaking environment.
How fit do i need to be?
You'll need a good level of fitness for this trip with 6-8 hours of paddling each day. Day 1 is a 20km paddle and day 2 is approximately 23km.
You'll be carrying your overnight kit in a dry bag on your board which does add to the weight when portaging your board.
what about all the kit required?
The majority of the equipment required for your weekend is provided by us. If you need to purchase any outdoor equipment prior to the weekend 'Bath Outdoors' bike, outdoor & watersports shop where we start/finish provide a 10% discount and are happy to advise on your requirements. They will ship to you or you can pick up on arrival for your adventure.
It’s worth considering that the more you bring, the heavier and bulkier your kit and harder it will be to portage (carry around locks and other obstacles). The key is finding the balance between comfort and necessity. Please check the weather forecast for Bath close to your departure to help with your packing!

We provide:
  • Stand Up Paddleboard
  • Paddle
  • Waist leash
  • PFD (Personal floatation device)
  • 22 litre and 13 litre dry bags (This will be enough space to carry a change of clothes and a few extra warm clothes for the evening and night time, some toiletry essentials and your camping equipment. Lightweight is the name of the game though!)
  • Sleeping mat
  • Bivvy bag and tipi tarp
  • Camp cooking equipment
  • Spork
  • Dinner and breakfast expedition meals
You will need:
  • Warm, lightweight sleeping bag (2 or 3 season) -bulky and heavy sleeping bags can be a challenge to carry
  • Camping pillow (optional - you can make one with a stuff sack full of soft things you’re not wearing)
  • Eye mask and earplugs (optional)
  • Warm dry clothes for the evening and overnight
  • Lightweight warm jacket (down or synthetic)
  • Additional dry bags (optional - in case you want to double bag your dry kit)
  • Warm hat

  • SUP clothing: sportswear which is fast drying and suitable for the weather conditions.
  • We will paddle in trainers, wetsuit booties, watershoes or barefoot. You will need to bring shoes with you on the board for the portages - neoprene boots, trainers or outdoor sandals; no neoprene socks!
  • Gloves for paddling (optional)

  • Sun screen
  • Sunglasses (with floating strap!)

  • Headtorch
  • Penknife (optional)
  • Lighter / fire steel (optional)
  • Packed lunch for both days. Make sure that your day 2 lunch does not need refrigerating as you'll be carrying it with you from the outset.

  • Phone and power bank unless you want to go off-grid for the weekend!
  • You can leave a bag with a change of clothes at the start point.
am i going to enjoy this?
This is a sociable weekend adventure, which is what SUP packing is all about. Throughout the weekend if you have a question, ask it... there will always be somebody else in the group thinking the same thing! Over the weekend you'll paddle through stunning water and countryside with stops on route for refreshment. Learn new skills, there is always plenty to laugh about, challenge yourself and enjoy each others company. All in a relaxed, sociable environment, what the outdoors is all about!
Washing, changing and toilet facilities - There are no showers at the bivvy site but there are toilets available with a changing facility for washing.
Brilliant trip from start to finish. Weather was amazing, our guide was brilliant and really helped me to develop my paddle technique over the weekend. The route was stunning, saw so many kingfishers and loved learning how to camp with a bivvi tarp!
