We've designed a stunning route taking you through the southern Cotswolds starting and finishing in Bath. This is designed for beginner off road cyclists looking to develop their skills and confidence to go onto bigger adventures like bikepacking, mountain bike parks and natural trail riding.
Adventure by bike, what you need to know?

WHAT LEVEL OF CYCLING SKILL IS REQUIRED?
Created for complete beginners! You don’t need to have any previous mountain biking experience, you just need to know how to ride a bike.
We’ll start the day with basic skills and as the day progresses you’ll build your confidence riding on varied terrain and enjoy some exhilarating downhill sections too! It’s an undulating route, with some challenging sections to test your new skills. Each day we’ll ride between 6-8 hours (approx 45 km a day) with stops for coffee, cake and lunch with a view! How fit do i need to be?
We will be cycling for 5-6 hours on varied and hilly terrain, so a good base level of fitness is required. If you exercise (gym, swim, run, spin etc) 2-3 times a week you’ll be good to go for this adventure!
Depending on the route, we will cover 30-65 km - this will be adapted to the group to ensure everyone has a great day in the saddle! what about all the kit required?
If you need to purchase any outdoor equipment prior to your ride 'Bath Outdoors' bike & outdoor shop where we start/finish provide a 10% discount and are happy to advise on your requirements. They will ship to you or you can pick up on arrival for your adventure.

I recently did the level 1 mountain biking day in Bath and it was fantastic. I had a bit of a trouble keeping up with the group at the beginning but the guide was very patient, supportive and encouraging. It gets easier after the first hour and we had a lot of fun (especially on the downhills 😅). Its an experience I will never forget! |
Kit & EquipmentWe provide your bike & helmet. You'll start/finish your ride at a specialist bike shop in Bath. If you want to buy some shiny new kit, you can contact the team at Bath Outdoors who'll be happy to help.

Our start/finish point is located at bathoutdoors.co.uk in central Bath. We're a 10 minute walk from the Bus and Bath Spa Train Station. There are park and ride facilities in Bath and overnight private car parks. There are no parking facilities at Bath Outdoors but if you need to drop off / pick up that isn't a problem.
