Is this for you?

"If you love the outdoors, camping, cycling, adventure & you're ready to try something different with a fun, relaxed group of people... this is definitely for you!
We've designed a stunning route taking you through the southern Cotswolds starting and finishing in Bath. This is designed for beginner mountain and gravel bikers with a two day, one night foray onto the world of multi-day cycling adventures. If you're a more advanced cyclist looking for a fun weekend with a group of like minded people, you'll love the route and bivvy site.

The route consists of a mix of cycle paths, bridleways and quiet country lanes including Europe's longest cycling tunnel at just over 1 mile long! We'll follow beautiful valleys, enjoy some stunning climbs delivering some breathtaking country views. We take all the hassle out of it providing your mountain bikes, helmets, bikepacking luggage and over night camping equipment including Firepot evening meal and breakfasts.

Adventure by bike, what you need to know?

WHAT LEVEL OF CYCLING SKILL IS REQUIRED?
Over your two day guided experience, you'll be led by a friendly & passionate British Cycling qualified guide. Our route is designed for beginner mountain bikers, allowing you to develop technical skills on the bike and build your confidence over the weekend.
As a minimum requirement you should feel confident riding a bicycle along roads, cycle paths with confidence. Being able to happily start and stop on the bike and feel safe around others on a bike. If you have any questions, please ask us.
It’s an undulating route, with some challenging sections to test your new skills. Each day we’ll ride between 6-8 hours (approx 45 km a day) with stops for coffee, cake and lunch with a view!
How fit do i need to be?
We are going to be cycling 6-8 hours a day (about 45km per day) on loaded bicycles through undulating terrain. You will need to be moderately fit to complete and enjoy the weekend.
what about all the kit required?
The majority of the equipment required for your weekend is provided by us. If you need to purchase any outdoor equipment prior to the weekend 'Bath Outdoors' bike & outdoor shop where we start/finish provide a 10% discount and are happy to advise on your requirements. They will ship to you or you can pick up on arrival for your adventure.
We provide:
  • Bike
  • Helmet
  • Sleeping mat
  • Bivvy bag and tarp
  • Bikepacking specific luggage: saddle bag, frame bag, and bar bag
(You will have space for a spare change of warm clothing for the evening and essential toiletries. The less you carry the more you will enjoy the weekend)
  • Cooking equipment
  • Dinner and breakfast expedition meals
    You will need:
  • Warm, lightweight sleeping bag (2 or 3 season)
  • Warm dry clothes for the evening and overnight
  • Lightweight warm jacket (down or synthetic)
  • Warm hat
  • Buff
  • Ideally a 1.5 litre hydration pack (please note there are no bottle cages on the bikes so you’ll need to carry water in your backpack)
  • Cycle clothing (padded shorts are recommended!)
  • Gloves for cycling
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Basic toiletries
  • Sun screen
  • Sunglasses
  • Prescription medication
  • Insect repellent
  • Electrolytes
  • Trainers for cycling in
  • Flip flops (for the evening!)
  • Money - we will stop at at least one watering hole to enjoy something to eat and drink, and a pub, cafe or farm shop for lunch on day 2. You will need cash as well as a card due to some of the more remote locations only taking cash.
  • Headtorch
  • Packed lunch for day 1. Carbs are good!
  • Snacks! (There will be stops along the way but you should bring enough to get you through the weekend). Snacks should be high energy foods like flapjacks, cereal bars, nuts, dried fruit etc.
  • Backpack to carry snacks, lunch and water and anything which doesn’t fit in the bikepacking bags. We recommend a bag of about 30 litres.
You can leave a bag with a change of clothes at the start point.
am i going to enjoy this?
This is a sociable weekend adventure, which is what bikepacking is all about. Throughout the weekend if you have a question, ask it... there will always be somebody else in the group thinking the same thing! Over the weekend you'll ride through stunning countryside with stops on route for refreshment. Learn new skills, there is always plenty to laugh about, challenge yourself and enjoy each others company. All in a relaxed, sociable environment, what the outdoors is all about!
Washing, changing and toilet facilities - There are no showers at the bivvy site but there are toilets available with a changing facility for washing.
Just finished a bike packing trip with wildswimbikerun. Excellent guide with loads of knowledge not just about Bath & the surrounding area but about bike packing and wild camping. Thoroughly enjoyed a night under the stars with just a bivvy bag and a tarp. Great kit and overall experience, would thoroughly recommend to anyone interested in cycling, camping or the great outdoors! -
